CARBON FIBER TOW “UVG”

  • Based on rayon technical yarn 1K. Scoured, carbonized and then, if needed, graphitized.
  • Carbon content 90-99,9%.
  • Specific gravity 1.3 - 1.5 g/cc.

PROPERTIES

  • Heat resistance on inert ambience 3000 C (temperature 2200 C of tow graphitation needed).
  • Oxy-ambience 450 C (temperature 2200 C of tow graphitation needed).
  • Tensile strength 0.3-1.5 GPa.
  • Tensile Modulus 60 GPa. Rayon based carbon fibers are “mild” ones.
  • Chemical resistance (acids, alkalis, solvents).
  • High adhesion to resins.

APPLICATION

  • Carbon/carbon composites (RCC): CVI, CVD, phenolic.
  • High-temperature insulation.
  • Antistatic surfaces, incl. flooring.
  • Electromagnetic wave absorber.
  • Carbon paper.
  • Electric heater.
