URAL (TR) - CARBON / GRAPHITE KNITTED CLOTH

  • Precursor – rayon technical filament yarn;
  • Depending on the assortment, carbon content can be adjusted in the range 90 - 99.9 %;
  • Elementary fiber is 0.05-0.09 tex
  • Temperature of treatment: 1000, 1500, 2200 C.

FEATURES

  • Specific gravity 1,4 g/cm3 (PAN-CF -1.7 g/cm3 );
  • Refractoriness in oxidizer-free ambience 3000°C;
  • Refractoriness in oxidizer ambience 400-450°C; (short-term - 1500°C);
  • Insensitivity to electromagnetic, nuclear and space radiation;
  • Filament Tensile Strength 1.2 - 1.5 GPa;
  • Average Tensile Modulus 60 GPa;
  • High elasticity;
  • High chemical stability to acids, alkalis, solvents (at normal & high temperatures);
  • Electrical conductivity.

APPLICATION 

Examples are based on present state of knowledge we have. Material’s unique properties allow other problems also to be solved.

  • Solid rocket motors (SRM) ablative insulators
  • Carbon reinforced carbon composites (RCC);
  • High temperature thermal insulation;
  • Flexible and rigid electric heaters;
  • Antistatic dissipation;
  • Catalyst carriers.
  • Electromagnetic wave absorber (especially Ni-content carbon fibers).
