ABOUT 

Activated carbon fiber cloth is an alternative adsorbent to conventional granular activated carbon for capture and recovery of volatile organic substances from gas streams. Cloth has up to twice the adsorption capacity of typical granular carbon and is more suited to electrothermal regeneration. Direct heating with electrical energy can be more rapid and energy efficient than indirect heating with steam or inert gas. Electrothermal desorption also allows desorption and condensation of a volatiles without mixing the resulting condensate with water. Electrothermal desorption does not require an adsorbent drying step, as required with conventional steam regeneration technology. Inert gas heating can provide some of these advantages, but requires a larger volume of inert gas to regenerate the adsorbent when compared to electrothermal desorption.

FEATURES

  • precursor – rayon technical filament yarn (1st stage - carbonization, 2nd stage - activation);
  • much more effective absorption in comparison with simple and modified charcoal absorption;
  • high-efficient absorption for low-concentrated solutions (level of maximum permissible concentration);
  • appearance: textile (tape, fabric, felt), black, dull surface;
  • easy to use, easy to recover;
  • thickness 0.2-1.5mm; for the felt 2-4mm; tape width 20-150mm; fabric width 400-600mm;
  • surface density 100-900gm2.
  • BET specific surface area: 500-1500 m2/g; pore volume 0.3-0.8 cm3/g.

APPLICATION

Examples are based on present state of knowledge we have. Material’s unique properties allow other problems also to be solved. It is a reason of close cooperation with users and processing companies when needed.

  • Filters for organic substances (chemical solutions and run-off water), especially when substance concentration level is low;
  • Regeneration of organic solvents (di-chloro-ethane, benzine, acetone etc.);
  • Galvanic grouts purification (removes organic substances);
  • Oil-separators for sewage water at gas stations and car cleaning stations. Concentration of oil-products in sewage water after filtration with “Busofit” is 0.05mg/l max;
  • Air-cleaners / odour-absorbers;
  • EDLC, or super-capacitors application;
  • Drinking water purification filters;
  • Filtering material for protective clothes and gas-masks for contact with toxic substances and poisons;
  • Welding gas filtration;
  • Smoking room filter; cigarette filter;
  • Filtration and purification of vodka and other strong beverages.
  • CBRN-, NBC-protective suit.
