OJSC "SvetlogorskKhimvolokno" (Open Joint Stock Company "SvetlogorskKhimvolokno") has been put into operation in 1964 as an artificial fiber manufacturer. It is the major enterprise of the city. There are more than ten thousand workers from Svetlogorsk had been working during various periods of time, while the urban population is 75000.
At the moment OJSC "SvetlogorskKhimvolokno" is one of the largest enterprises of the petrochemical complex of the country. The enterprise consists of the several structural divisions specializing on production of different products.
Artificial Fiber Plant
The basic products — viscose cord yarns and fabrics, which are widely used in production of tyres and various rubber technical goods. Due to application of the state-of-the-art technologies and modernization of the primary capacities today Artificial Fiber Plant delivers cord fabric of a premium quality to the world markets.
At the end of 80th within the bounds of a military-industrial complex of the former USSR on Svetlogorsk "Khimvolokno" was started carbon materials production. In spite of break of former economic relations after disintegration of the USSR we managed to save this product direction. At present, produced with the use of the newest technologies carbon materials arouse the highest interest of buyers not only from CIS-countries, but from many others as well.
A very big attention deserves a unique product of OJSC "SvetlogorskKhimvolokno" — heat-resistant material "Arselon", which can be applied in the most different spheres of people’s activity, namely from filtration to space technologies.
One more product of Artificial Fiber Plant is nonwoven material "spunbond" type — "SpunBel", which has found a wide application in agriculture as a cover material for kitchen garden as well as in other fields due to the availability of a lot of useful characteristics and the possibility to combine them.
On the plant’s site are being produced polypropylene yarns, fabrics and packing too.
Polyester Textile Yarn Plant
The leader of the enterprise is Polyester Textile Yarn Plant. It has been put into operation in 1984. Twenty-year experience of the city’s chemists let today to name polyester yarns from Svetlogorsk (trade mark "SOKHIM") the goods of the acknowledged quality. We produce flat complex yarns, textured raw white and dyed, air-entangled and yarns with high twist, knitted stockinet and nonwoven needlepunched materials. After recent modernization we also manufacture multifilament, dope dyed and optical white yarns.
